SOMETHING I LOOK AT-60
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Man is born unique
so different and special
in his own way
irrespective of social clusters
caste, creed and colour
supreme and matchless he is
having no equal and parallel

The brainchild of man
delicately nurtured over the years
in the womb of colonialism and imperialism
colourism and shadeism
discrimination on the basis of colour
black, pale and dull
treating a vast multitude of humanity
inferior and unacceptable
is but an attitude of few
to subjugate others
and convey the message
that they are lesser mortals
not at par with others
destined to suffer
for no fault of theirs

Discrimination so apparent
in the fair play of justice
in the field of business, labour,
housing, healthcare etc
hardly there is any space
to breathe in.

Any feeling of superiority
on the basis of colour
is highly unscientific
do not have a basis of its own
men are different
but at par with each other
each having his own traits
with no one superior or inferior

The wind of change is blowing
with the black people
proving their worth in every field
and surpassing many
the message is loud and clear
that the days of
make belief identities
on the basis of colour
are but numbered

Let the champions of racism
realise the reality
that the superiority of races
are but myths
the world is as much yours
as it is theirs
time to appreciate the changes
respect each others dignity
and make the world
a better place to live in
