WHAT DID YOU SAY Alas, what did you say, A dagger drawn from the lips you swore were kind? I begged the stars to shift, But your silence carved the shapes of my mind. I never wanted the dark between us, I never asked for love to break and bleed, Yet these words are thorns in the garden, And the weeds choke every seed. I didn’t hear you before, But now your whispers hang like chains in the air. I try to love again, But your voice drowns me in despair. You said you didn’t want this, I heard you loud and clear, Now I’m left with pieces of a love The love we had, or thought we knew, Was lost beneath the weight of you. I can't bear the weight of what you never meant, Do you know how your words made me feel, Just like shattered glass beneath my feet. All I wanted was the love to flow But now, it’s all just echoes below. I didn’t hear, I didn’t see— But now, your words are haunting me. Alas, what did you say? I am lost in the ruins of yesterday. 14/11/2024 _Shivani singh_ ©shivani singh #kitaabein
