Pride, thou art unfair, and cruel, How thou render

Pride, thou art unfair, and cruel,
How thou render me speechless with thy lofty words?
Before thou, love is a poor man,
Thou art wealthy, and love is not worth a dime.
It's true it seems,
That thy silence is louder that the thousand desperate plea of love.
A noble man once argued with me,
The love, the true love you speak off is fit only for a pauper.
Thou counseled me " Listen to him, he is right. Would you rather be a pauper all your life, when I could make you my wife , and my queen?
You choose me, and all will sing praises,
You choose love, they will scorn you.
Pride, thou left me without hearing my reply,
I left my love, to be thy wife.
In becoming thy bride, I became his widow.
