 Dear Gomukh Journey

Till now in life we have done many journeys like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jim Corbett National Park etc., all are the most memorable journeys but journey of Gomukh has been the most memorable journey of my life.
One day I saw a very beautiful description of the journey of Gomukh via Haridwar, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Gangotri on Discovery channel. I immediately talked to my husband and made a plan to go there during the summer holidays. As per the plan we started our journey on 23rd May 2013 from Banaras city in our own car. After a journey of 18 hours, we reached Haridwar, stopped there and saw the beautiful view of Ganga Aarti. Then on the second day in Rishikesh, seeing the Ganges in the plains through the mountains and seeing the world famous Lakshman Jhula. From there left for Uttarkashi from noon onwards. We completed this journey in 15 hours. Stopped in Uttarkashi and got a permit for trekking from Gangotri to Gomukh. From there we left for Gangotri. Before Gangotri, a very small village, which is full of natural beauty, is named Harsil. There the Bhagirathi river flowing in the bank, which is considered to be the main stream of the Ganges river and the beautiful valleys of high mountains all around, the snow covered with white sheets was very relaxing to the eyes and mind. The local people there told that the shooting of the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili was done in this Harsil village. After visiting there we left for Gangotri. Stayed overnight in the hotel. After seeing the Ganges in the morning, both of us reached on time where the permit was to be given for Gomukh trekking. It took 1 hour to complete the whole process, from there 19 km had to be trekked on foot or by mule. We walked 10 km from there and reached a place named Chirvasa. There are tall trees of Chir, on one side the high hills of Himalaya, on the other side the Bhagirathi river flows down. It was a very beautiful and beautiful sight. On the way, small water streams came out of the mountains and fell into the river below the trekking path. They were crossing the water streams. Trekking 5's path must have been barely 2 feet wide, somewhere the way was not being found. When we went to a little height, we started feeling breathless due to lack of oxygen and started resting there for some time. Then started walking and reached Bhojwasa by evening. Just as there were Chir trees in Chirvasa, similarly there were many Bhoj trees in Bhojwasa. The same tree on which earlier people used to write on its bark which is called Bhoj Patra. There they rested overnight in the tent house and reached the banks of the river in the morning. The rays of the sun falling on the white sheet of snow all around and the sound of yesterday rising from the river was captivating to the eyes and ears. Seeing the beauty of the nature there, only one thought came in my mind, if God is somewhere, then it is only here, it is here. Even today the beauty of nature is captured in the camera of the mind. We went again to trek Gomukh glacier from Bhojwasa where Bhagirathi river originates, the river was coming out of the mountain, from there only snow was deposited.
Most memorable journey of my life which I can't describe in words. Jai Ganga Maa.
