As far as I can remember my favourite childhood shows were the Tom and Jerry cartoon show and of course the legendary Mahabharata on Sundays. It was the era of Doordarshan and we didn't own a TV set in Pune where I spent the early part of my childhood. As kids our whole family went to our closest family friends' home and watched the Sunday movie .It was much later that we owned a TV set after Dad got transferred to Ordnance Factory Chanda. I remember sitting on the sofa and laughing loudly at the non stop Tom and Jerry chases.None of my mom's yellings could make me budge from the sofa.As for the Mahabharata the entire family watched the show, the whole episode narrated by my dad before hand itself. It was very easy for us to follow the complicated plot and the inter related dynamics . Ever since then I have enjoyed the Mythological movie genre very much and to this day appreciate the richness of our Culture.
