When one attempts a regional language, making fun of them is deemed cool. "Why are they even bothering?" People often wonder. But making fun of someone attempting to speak English is offensive. "At least they are trying to fit in!" Is the common exclamation. And with this hypocrisy they dare lament the decreasing number of regional language speakers.
