White A LOOK AT LIFE-58 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY MISTAKE OF A LIFE I know not how many minutes and hours, days, months and years, I have spent in meaningless pursuits in proving myself, in proving I am not at par but head and shoulder above others. I know not how many times I turned my back to truth and bliss. How many times I failed to understand love and it's beauty, someone's tears, sacrifices, hours of waiting and longing for me. I know hardly I lived my life for me. It was for those significant others whom I valued the most in seeking their appreciation and recognition who themselves achieved nothing, lived the whole of their lives in illusion in a pseudo world with pseudo greatness and pseudo satisfaction I lived a life in acquiring pelf and power, laurels and accolades adding to my inflated ego, proving before others I am unique and different and don't belong to the same species to which others belong My Lord! How far away I am from me, from my life and it's beauty? How futile is that life which is shaped and designed, not by how one is, but by how others view and assess it. I achieved nothing. What one achieves by running away from his own, family, friends and relations, by alienating from the inner being forgetting life and its purpose, playing all the while to the galleries? If life means running away from oneself, from truth and bliss. If life is an endeavour in pursuit of appreciation and recognition, in chasing a mirage which goes away farther and farther Forgive me! My Lord I don't need one more. Very difficult To hold nerves in adversity Very difficult To come out of an emotional breakdown And live as if happened nothing Advice come in plenty But how difficult it is To reconcile to the reality Accept life as it is The endurer knows Where it pinches It pinches, pinches hard And takes away The last drops of juice of life When your love leaves you When hopes and aspirations are off track Dreams are shattered Your nearest one leaves for heavenly abode When your motivation to live Remains no more When your life is on fire and You feel the heat everywhere As if you are in a burning cauldron When you see nothing but a dead end Very difficult to wait for the sun To rise the next day Life Thy name is running against the wind. Relishing the moment that comes in between Enjoying that little summer shower And the sun in a winter morning Life is not a bed of roses It is more like having all the thorns and Looking at the rose all the way One who succeeds lives to the full One who looks at the adversities As parts of life to be lived and endured One who withstands all these Looking at that faint ray of light Behind the bank of clouds Silently waits for his time Is the winner in the game of life He is the real hero, A master in the art and craft of life And the whole world is his. Outside, it is a war of me against all, between what i relish and what i accomplish. It is a continuous struggle of each against all for the avenues of life, comfort, luxury, pelf, power, recognition and all that makes modern life a beauty. With the tide of desires running high and the wind of instincts and emotions propelling it the real I seem to be sadly missing in the horizon. To reconcile the irreconcilable conflicts in life one has to peep inside to have a glimpse of his real nature which is but divinity expanded and to understand the futility of rat race for accomplishment appreciation and recognition which gives nothing but more desires, more conflicts and pain.
