Helplessly, his wife tore one part of her threadbare sari and offered it to him. Agreeing to accept this as payment for a cremation, Harishchandra began to prepare for the funeral. A blinding light stopped him. The light was none other than Lord Vishnu. Vishwamitra and Indra appeared too. "King Harishchandra, you are truly what you are, they declared. Lord Vishnu bent and brought Harishchandra's son back to life. Overjoyed at this, the king and the queen hugged their son. "We return your kingdom too! Indra and Vishwamitra magnanimously announced.
