DAAG ACCHE HAI Debauched shape keeps us in conversation, good (normal) ones remain un-noticed. I am delightedly the ‘abnormal’. When there is a chaotic uproar surrounding the decent, I envy myself (being allowed to be indecent), blessed to have the charm of abandoned calmness. I revel in the boo, cursing me wrong. I love being unloved. I hate being the accepted. I cherish to attain the sublime extent of being the useless. Being in limelight caters you to treatment. I like to be scoffed as discarded, the peace which it brings with. The best of adjectives are often registered, but list for the worse, have choices —limitless. — % & I like myself being this scathe and eluded. A wound scab kept on being scratched. Coz, they bestow me something to write upon. #yqbaba #you

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-222 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY DAYS AFTER-18 All through your life You have been sprinting breathlessly In pursuit of goals set by yourself Reached many, missed a few But have these made any difference To the quality of life you led? All along You have been motivating yourself To remain in the contest Winning has become so important You have forgotten the rules of the game Have you achieved What you desired Or your entire life has been A meaningless pursuit in search of something Which eluded your grasp? All these years Are you at peace with yourself? Are you satisfied the way you are Or find yourself sadly lacking In more than one way? Now you have all the time in the world Sit and analyse What you require from life? Are you anywhere close to the beauty of life Or made a total mess of it? Gather yourself and see Where you went wrong And how to make up for the shortfall? SOMETHING I LOOK AT-229 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY DAYS AFTER-25 At last We met after long At the same place where We used to meet every winter The pandemic separated hearts Beating for each other For a substantial period But it could not put an end to the bonding, The craving that precisely defines our Relationship for thirty six years The joy was smiling in each face The eyes were dancing in ecstasy Like the waves of an ocean Mind going back to the dreamy days Where the journey began To find a place under the sun Before thirty-six years in the garden of Eden The venue cast its magic spell Each became dancing rivulets Men and women in the late fifties Became young once again. Hugging each other Forgot themselves Their status and identity And the same unalloyed smile and gestures That eluded us for thirty-six years Bounced back with renewed vigour Life became sheer poetry A peg of red wine once more Time stood standstill To witness the moment The moment of meeting of hearts Celebration of minds In the garden of roses The paradise on the mortal plane It was enough To rejuvenate the young minds Inhabiting old bodies And to keep the man in the sixty on the go To look forward to life And its spellbinding beauties once more Smruti Ranjan Mohanty ©Smruti Ranjan Mohanty SOMETHING I LOOK AT-229 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY DAYS AFTER-25 At last We met after long At the same place where

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-198 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY THE COUNTDOWN-24 Days and years went by It seems as if it was yesterday When a young guy on his bicycle With an umbrella in hand Began his journey in pursuit of a life That eluded his grasp till then A man in the full bloom of youth With dreams in his eyes Put his first steps on the corridor of power Reasonably dissatisfied with himself With the decree of fate Knowing well there was a wide gap between What he accomplished and what he deserved Made the biggest compromise of life and Opted for something For which he is neither made for Not best suited Only to make both ends meet To find a little earth and sky over For all those he loved Whose future was more important than His longings and fancies Began a new life Hoping all the colours on the way Only found a family to support and Marriage to take care of. The quest for divine romance Ended in a romance in the material plane As the necessities of life took over Spirituality receded to a silent corner Things changed So also people and their attitude Comforts came crowding Opened new avenues of life Only to take him away from the reality His first love in the lap of which He has spent the best of his life Now it is all over The man in the sixty Finds himself where he was long before. Now he is to start afresh Whether he will fall in love with his first love Or miss it once again Only time will say Smruti Ranjan Mohanty ©Smruti Ranjan Mohanty #Hum SOMETHING I LOOK AT-198 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY THE COUNTDOWN-24 Days and years went by It seems as if it was yesterday When a you

THE UNWANTED GUEST - A SHORT STORY Will live in an eighth floor Apartment in the heart of the city. We are three. My daughter, my wife and me. We rarely get guests. Even if we do get, they were mostly invited. As everybody would agree, since we already have enough surprises in our lives, it is better not to add any more surprises knowingly. Normally, I am the first one who gets up in my house. Mostly around 5 AM. One such normal morning, when I switched on the light in the living room, I noticed a shadow moving briskly across the room. Though I am not a phobic by nature, I got a little startled. It was pin drop silence. I tip-toed to the main door and checked. It was all closed and locked. So what I felt must have been some illusion, I decided. Feeling a little relaxed, I went back to my morning routine.
