My mother kept on scolding my father for his addiction of tea. He still drank tea four to five times, a day. In the evening, he brewed two cups, one for ma and one for himself even when ma said she didn't want it. She, drank it anyway though. It's been two months since my father suddenly stopped drinking tea. "Why don't you drink tea?" asked ma one day. "Because I'm not addicted to it, I'm addicted to drinking it with you. Once you're gone, I might never get over my addiction. So, I better start practicing." I don't know whether it's accurate to the meaning. ______ Day 25 of Worldrobe Y for Ya'aburnee (Arabic) While the Arabic word ya'aburnee literally means "you bury me," the concept it represents goes far deeper than that (no pun intended). My heart breaks a little everyday when i find myself waiting; it breaks more when i find nothing to wait for. 1:19 AM. If I can fall asleep by the next half an hour, I'd still have 6 hours of peace. Is that why I want to sleep? I still have it now. Peace. In this silence and darkness of the night. One last poem maybe. No! It's always one last something, an episode, a page, a quote, a reel. That's how my circles are getting darker. But, but I've already started reading. 2:23 AM. When did... Ah! Anyway now, I'd sleep and either have a nightmare or wake up to my parents shouting at each other. With every night's end, there goes my peace away. My dark circles, eye power, and dizzy days are worth the serenity of insomnia. You start the mornings With a gentle hug and small pecks, Then brew some tea with extra sugar And pour me my black, sugarless coffee, without saying, Then, we get sucked into the routine of Bringing bread and butter, And wine sometimes, And on those day, You stick small notes on the fridge Reminding me of how you'll miss me or How we'll make love once we return. And when we finally return, Too tired to even make dinner, You let me be a cranky mess, And silently tune on our songs. It makes me want to live one more day, For you, with you. I take a few bones from the spine that my mother grows while standing up for herself, against everyone else. I take some sweat from my father's hands that have aged and got wet due to working under the scorching sun. I take some blood from my sisters and friends who tell me the stories of their jerk bosses and exes, from whom they boldly walk away. I finally wrap some skin of my own that fosters the blood, bones and sweat to build a home large enough so that they all, who make me, can call it a home of their own.
