मैं कभी कभी सोचती हूँ कि जिन देवियों की हमारे देश में पूजा की जाती है वे अग़र आज होतीं तो किस रूप में हमारे सामने आतीं? उनका आधुनिक स्वरूप कैसा होता? वो किस तरह का जीवन जी रही होतीं? जब मैं इस बारे में सोचती हूँ तो मेरी कल्पनाशक्ति उन्हें कुछ इस तरह से देखती है: मैं कभी कभी सोचती हूँ कि जिन देवियों की हमारे देश में पूजा की जाती है वे अग़र आज होतीं तो किस रूप में हमारे सामने आतीं? उनका आधुनिक स्वरूप कैसा होता? वो किस तरह का जीवन जी रही होतीं? जब मैं इस बारे में सोचती हूँ तो मेरी कल्पनाशक्ति उन्हें कुछ इस तरह से देखती है: दुर्गा: दुर्गा सिविल सर्विसेज की तैयारियों में जुटी हुई है। उसका सपना आईपीएस बनकर पुलिस सेवा को जेंडर सेंसिटिव बनाना है। एक मिलेनियल फेमिनिस्ट होने के नाते वो अपने कैरियर को लेकर काफ़ी संजीदा है। यूँ तो अहिंसा में उसका पूरा पूरा भरोसा है
